.
AquaModus is the world’s first chain of Aquatic Therapy and Training pools available to rent. These are the same pools used by professional sports teams, D1 universities, and the US Olympic Training Center.
We rent time to athletes at all levels, competitive swimmers, aqua-fitness enthusiasts, and people with chronic pain, orthopedic issues, and many more. We rent time to small niche businesses that don't have their own facility or don't need to have their own pool.
Physical Therapists rent time to treat patients without the expense or risk of owning their own pools.
This is my knee before joint replacement surgery and after. I had a pretty good shot at playing at the collegiate level with hopes of playing in the Olympics someday. It was injured in my last year of high school and although I lost some scholarship opportunities, I still walked on. I re-injured it before the season started and never fulfilled my college athletic dreams. Proper rehab and return-to-sport training could have made all the difference.
So I moved on to triathlons and won my age-group in my first competition. I was always looking for a better way to train with the little time I had in a crazy schedule. But many miles and subsequent injuries later, I was coming to terms with my limitations. That's when many years of operational excellence and lateral thinking put this concept into perspective for me.
When we lived in Bend, every 6 months one of the restaurants downtown would close and a few months later, another one would open in its place. This still goes on today but through all those years and each of those restaurants competing for their slice of the pie, the same produce truck delivered lettuce to each of them. The produce guy retired early and the restaurants are still battling it out.
The
Issue
The absolute best rehab and training equipment is not available to 99% of the population. Professional and top university teams use specialized pools with motorized treadmills to rehabilitate their players in half the time when compared to typical physical therapy services. Elite athletes have greater success and fewer injuries when part of their training is in the water.
The Cost of Offering Aquatic Training and Therapy is the top constraint to providing the best and quickest recovery from injury as well as the best opportunity to reduce the risk of injury. Organizations that can afford to buy and maintain their own pool typically don't have the user flow to justify the ROI of the elite pools. Suitable public pools are the largest complaint when looking for an alternative.
Even if an organization owns an elite pool, they typically can only provide one depth and water temperature. This is great for a narrow target market but does not cover the full spectrum of training and recovery, especially for the market's heaviest demand in the next 10 years, Baby Boomers.
The Win - Win
AquaModus will satisfy the needs of the growing Aqua Fitness and Aqua Therapy market by renting Time to athletes of all ages, Physical Therapists, and training organizations in 6, top-of-line, current-generating pools, as well as 2 Anti-Gravity Treadmills. Future locations may include larger pools to accommodate groups of 10-12 people and spinning classes. Local PTs would treat their Aqua Therapy clients at AquaModus. PTs would not have the risk associated with owning a pool, they would only pay for use of AquaModus pools when they provide care to clients in them. Training organizations will schedule teams and individuals to mobilize the benefits of reduced and non-weight-bearing workouts decreasing the risk of injury and improving their performance. Individuals working out alone or with friends have access to the same great training equipment and coaching videos as elite athletes.
The pools provide various depths and water temperatures for ideal training and rehabilitation at every stage and every athletic level. Integrated treadmills, drop-in aqua bikes, resistance floats, and other rehab equipment are available for use. Poolside monitors provide underwater camera split views, recording capabilities for technique analysis, rehab and training videos for everybody part/muscle group, as well as the Athlete’s activity record to track progress. Each pool has a curtain for patient privacy.
Clients will log in to their account on the poolside monitor and give access to all their training apps and AquaModus exclusive content. The technology supporting the session experience is robust and adaptable to each individual's needs.
A major initiative is to foster a “community” of Athletes, therapists, and clients by hosting monthly seminars on various topics involving the use of the facilities. Topics would range from specific techniques for joint replacement recovery to analyzing stroke techniques using the latest video feedback software. The Community will benefit from networking and sharing ideas and, as the community grows and new members join, AquaModus will be a cornerstone to the aquatic fitness community.
AquaModus is the ideal anchor tenant for an increasingly popular real estate play. Wellness Centers and Wellness Communities are the new realizations of consumer buying trends. Packaging a consumer experience covering all the bases to achieve and maintain a balanced lifestyle is in high demand. One convenient location for your best workout, body fuel meals on the go that actually taste great, acupuncture, natural path, massage, yoga, and more. As the chain of locations grows, we can execute the wellness center strategy in emerging growth markets and retrofits.
AquaModus has been working with a water purification company to virtually eliminate the need for heavy chemicals in the pools. Most pools use caustic chemicals attempting to kill viruses without regard to the long-term effects on humans and the environment. This globally recognized, patent-holding, water purification system uses a green process to break down contaminates to their molecular parts leaving a clean, PH balanced, aquatic environment to enjoy.
The staff will be fully trained in lifesaving, CPR, and Defibrillators. They will monitor all cameras to ensure the safe and proper use of the equipment. They will show the guests how to operate the pools, pass out towels and fluffy robes, and keep the facility safe and clean. They are authentic athletes such as masters swimmers, CrossFit athletes, triathletes, and, they will focus on providing an attentive guest experience.
They are not Physical Therapists or personal trainers. The RAFTT does not compete with the service providers who are meeting their clients and taking advantage of the elite equipment available. That is the secret sauce that keeps the labor cost low and allows the facility to operate with optimum efficiency.

Target Markets:
1 - Training: AquaModus will cater to local swimmers and swim teams, runners, multi-sport athletes, and all types of fitness enthusiasts of all ages and abilities. Water provides pure muscle conditioning without the wear and tear on the joints experienced in land-based workouts. The elite workout sessions appeal to athletes of all levels and aspirations. Athletes can create their own workout or follow hundreds of videos for general conditioning or for specific body needs such as rehabbing and maintaining a joint replacement. These are the same pools used by elite running programs for Olympic and International distance races. The same pools used by Olympic and Internationally recognized swim clubs for stroke technique analysis and stroke perfection. The same pools where cyclists are seeing huge benefits in spinning classes which are growing exponentially in popularity.
2 - Physical Therapists: Physical Therapists will have scheduling priority over other users, up to 6 months in advance to block times. The biggest constraint for Aqua Therapy is the lack of suitable facilities for therapists to provide care.
3 - Medical Maintenance: Additionally, people with a wide variety of issues will benefit from aquatic sessions; cancer survivors, cardiac patients, veterans, obesity, fibromyalgia, joint replacements, geriatric care, and countless other market segments. Included access to videos will allow out-patients to continue their recovery and increase performance by following 'progressively focused' workouts.
Competition:
There is no direct competition; AquaModus would be first to market, all other facilities have their own physical therapist on staff and you would need to be a patient there to use the pool. There is indirect competition for fitness dollars at fitness clubs, but the benefit set offered is very different. AquaModus is meant to supplement and complement an athlete’s training program with high-end elite equipment, not replace their routine.
AquaModus operates so efficiently that we will be able to provide free services to organizations such as Veteran's and Disabilities groups, Shriner’s, St. Jude’s, and other local children's hospitals.
